Tingshu has two meanings: listening to Pingshu and the unisonance of my grandfather's name, "Tingshu." As a traditional performing art, Pingshu is both a product of the times and an epitome of the era, and it also carries the memory of my grandfather.
To express my feelings about the decline of Pingshu and nostalgia for my grandfather, I made a book of memories. The project is based on personal insights into my family's behaviour and reveals the impact of the times on Pingshu. I reflect on the relationship between the times and the culture, hoping to provoke thought and resonance.
My grandfather's name has the word "tree." The book's cover is wood, and the inner page is made of rice paper, paint, carbon, and other comprehensive materials. I use a pipe to leave scorch marks and ashes on the paper, aiming to write the narrative with physical traces and signs.
